Had such a great time!! I've taken my kiddos(ages 6, 9 and 10) to many different museums and today's experience has got to be one of my favs! We were welcomed by one of the nicest and very well informed docents ever, Miss Leah. She was so friendly and very welcoming. They were so well organized, they had plenty of helpful staff, and lots of space to move around. We had such a good time that we will be back for more!! Thanks so much to Miss Leah and Miss Susan for making our experience a pleasant one

Enjoyed the simplicity of the building and the varied interpretations of California life expressed through art. I really enjoyed works focused around the beach and cliffs along the coast.
Every exhibit I've seen there has been enjoyable, and I try to see them all. Not really a permanent collection kind of place, so read up about the exhibits, what you see is what you get.
My wife and I spent a couple of very enjoyable hours at the PMCA when we visited last month. They had a very interesting retrospective of work by Claire Falkenstein, an artist whose work we were not familiar with. The museum had a wide selection of excellent works in a variety of media. It was very well presented, along with a video on her career. In a smaller gallery was a collection of photographs by Brett Weston. We plan to go back the next time we are in the LA area.
