I personally needed a church that was theologically solid, preaching from the text and not jumping around scripture to make people feel comfortable. I also needed a place that had transparent and authentic community where I could be imperfect and flawed and still feel like I fit in. This church fulfills both needs wonderfully.
My kids also very quickly found friends there and often don't want to leave. It's the first church we've been to out of half a dozen where the kids are excited when I tell them it's a Sunday and we're going to church!
As you can imagine from being a single father, I have a rough and messy past and that has never ever been a problem when connecting with people here. Even though it's a reformed, sola scriptura church, there is no judgment for those that come in with some scars and baggage. That's incredibly refreshing. Come visit the church this Sunday. It may just be the (imperfect but genuine) community you've needed for a long time.
