Vroman's is a Pasadena landmark, providing a huge selection of books, magazines, journals, crossword puzzles, etc. They also have a wide selection of greeting cards and gifts of all kinds. The staff are always helpful and the quality of their items is very good. I sometimes go in just to walk through because it's so enjoyable.
One of the few physical bookstores left after the online boom took over. Always an adventure coming here and finding something to purchase, whether it be a book or a random object.
One of the last independent bookstore's remaining. Incredible authors come to Vroman's, read from their novels, sign their books for fans and answer questions from fans. I had the opportunity to see Chuck Palahniuk and participate in the hijinks and fun atmosphere he created. He signed one of my favorite books. Events like this occur frequently and all you need to do is sign up for their newsletter to find out when.
Although they don't price match, this place is a gem on Colorado. The attention to detail they put in and all the decorations make this place amazing. They have weekly readers, and themes and classes and the list can go on and on. Just visit it! You won't regret it. Huge selection, friendly staff! Loser Hillary will be there in December. Get your questions ready!

Amazon is great for lots of things but not for independent bookstores. Support your local bookstores and if you're in the Los Angeles area, Vroman's is a must experience.
GREAT Vromans. Wonderful upstairs area has a space for book readings/ signings. Also upstairs is a gift shop with a fine selection of locally made greeting cards and little gifts (candles, small bags etc). Downstairs is a cute little cafe. All the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable of the store. There’s also ample parking not only directly in back but in paid parking lots near by because it’s right in Colorado.
